An American Restaurant
By Chef Andrew Carmellini
Rye Street Tavern is Chef Andrew Carmellini and NoHo Hospitality Group’s newest American restaurant located in Baltimore’s Port Covington neighborhood, adjacent to the Sagamore Spirit Distillery.
Rye Street Tavern is a tribute to the neighborhood taverns of Charm City’s industrial era, where locals and visitors quenched their thirst, exchanged stories and enjoyed good cooking. Chef Carmellini’s menu features locally-grown ingredients, farm-raised meats including his famous fried chicken, sustainable seafood and raw bar, and plenty of Maryland crab. Rye Street Tavern proudly specializes in serving American spirits, craft beers and wines, with an emphasis on rye whiskey and Maryland’s distilling heritage.
The bi-level space designed by Baltimore-based Patrick Sutton offers indoor and outdoor dining with views of the Patapsco River, a bar area with a stage for live entertainment overlooking Sagamore Spirit’s rye distillery, four private dining spaces, and American relics like a 25-foot-high copper column still.
Chef Andrew Carmellini
Chef Andrew Carmellini is well-known among a generation of chefs whose early cooking careers were spent putting their fingerprints on a heyday of New York City fine dining institutions such as Lespinasse, Le Cirque and Café Boulud. Step outside of gourmet circles and Carmellini is best known as a hit-maker, blending culinary culture with urban social dining.
Since forming NoHo Hospitality Group, Chef Carmellini, Josh Pickard and Luke Ostrom are often credited with cracking the code between fine cooking and fun dining. Together they have established award-winning restaurants and culinary services for hotels, live music, and nightlife venues. Their growing body of work includes Locanda Verde, The Dutch in New York City and Miami Beach, Joe’s Pub, The Library at The Public, Lafayette, Bar Primi, Little Park, Evening Bar, Westlight, Mister Dips, and Leuca. Each venue is uniquely recognized for delivering quality dining experiences and pertinent culinary culture.
Most recently, they introduced Rec Pier Chop House and The Cannon Room to Fell’s Point with the opening of Baltimore’s newest hotel, The Sagamore Pendry.
